Many of the mid-date mintmark Saint's were melted during the 1933 gold turn-in. The Philadelphia issues were spared the indignity in larger numbers and are still available. This coin has a full strike on the obverse and reverse showing facial and gown details as well as eagle leading wing and breast feathers. The fields are free of any detracting contact marks, but do show expected light scuffing. The gold has typical color with a few russet copper spots beginning to show on its surface, as normal, with the only visibly obvious ones near the date. This is a pleasant type coin and a popular design. |
